28 Sep Cowgirl Clothes and Skinned Knees
Meet Abby girl.
Abby is my first ever niece. When she was two we lived in the same house. It was a blissful sweet season of living with my sister and her family. We had this list on the refrigerator of all the words that Abby could say. We would add to it almost daily as she learned new words. I was truly enamored by her curiosity and busyness and we bonded as we sat in the recliner reading Pout Pout Fish for the millionth time.
Now she’s five. And these are her five year old photos.
She asked for “cowgirl clothes” for her birthday so Andy and I bought her the jean skirt with white flowers all over it that she’s wearing in these photos. She brought her Pegasus and Pegasus’ baby. I laughed out loud when she told me that her Pegasus had a broken leg, “but that’s ok” she said.
She’s beautiful, busy, full of opinions, so strong that she climbs to the top of the monkey bars without a bit of fear. She loves unicorns, horses, sparkles, gems and gymnastics.
As I began editing her photos, my eyes filled with tears. What a beauty. These photos so accurately capture the essence and truth of this amazing girl… I stunned myself. I feel like she’s looking right into my auntie heart and sharing hers without fear or hesitation.
She’s just exactly Abby. And I adore her.
