Meet the Johnsons: Bryan, Becca, Aydin, Noah and Caleb.

I lived with the Johnsons for the year before Andy and I got married.  That was 5 years ago and when the Johnson clan was only made up of three!  Aydin was four and turned five while I lived with them.  He called me his “little sister” and we were pals.  Over the past 5 years, our lives have taken us all over, but… we are family.  Being with them was like being home, because they are my people, my Johnsons.

The boys and I sat on the floor together and Becca told me to close my eyes.  I did but I was nervously giggling awaiting the “surprise”.  The boys were giggling eagerly with me as Becca dumped a reusable grocery bag full of pom poms over my head.  I screamed a scream of pure joy and fun.  We all then proceeded to throw pom poms at each other and cover the entire living room with them.  Who knew craft supplies could be so fun?!  I raced down the hall, leaving a trail of pom poms behind me to grab my camera.

These are the moments that need capturing.

My time with them was simply sweet.  Becca and I poured our hearts out to each other; I played and laughed so hard with the boys; Bryan, Becca and I talked into all the hours of the morning; we danced to Justin Timberlake’s song, “Can’t Stop the Feeling”; I stood in the kitchen while Becca cooked and Bryan, the boys and I sampled everything; and we did a mini family session in the backyard.  It was pure joy and refreshment.
